Membership of the group is free. The benefits of membership include: support for session organisation and research group guests at the annual RGS/IBG conference; the ability to apply for SCGRG grants for events; notification of relevant geography research conferences, symposia and activities; opportunities to broadcast your events to a dedicated group of researchers in social and cultural geography via the web; and representation of social and cultural geography research group interests to the RGS.
To join the SCGRG as an RGS-IBG Fellow you can either tick the form when you join the RGS-IBG, or complete and send off the following form at any time. If you are not currently an RGS member you can email our Membership Secretary Lizzie Richardson (email@example.com) to be added to our lists. We do not currently charge non-RGS members, but this is under review, and there may be a small charge in the future bringing the SCGRG in line with other research groups.
Subscription to the website, allowing you to post comments, and subscribe to a digest of SCGRG news, is open to everyone. Just follow the link to login to the site. You can sign up for the news digest by editing your profile. Go to profile, selection Your subscriptions and tick the box to ‘receive periodic summaries of new posts’. We no longer regularly send out news items via email, so we would encourage all new and existing members to subscribe to receive notification of SCGRG news posts.
You can also keep in touch with the activities of the Social and Cultural Geography Research Group via Facebook and twitter @SCGRG_RGS. These resources are run collaboratively by the committee, and we welcome your input. We are very happy for all members, and others, to make use of these social media to post news or ask us to retweet items and events that will be of interest to the rest of the group.
